We created LocalLink to become the network and platform that cities could easily connect with other public professionals, share best practices, information and data, and to tap directly into the millions of public efforts that contribute to managing society's needs. Cities’ current communication channels are largely facilitated through email which creates fragmented silos due to their outdated design and rigid format. Emails tend to drive the siloing of relationships, valuable information, and important networks especially from new employees.

We came from academic institutions where we had benefited from the easy access to rich networks, integrated database, electronic research tools and support systems. The public sector is far behind on adopting technology to improve its business processes. This is a result of cities’ budget constraints, outdated information systems, siloed communication networks, and lack of access to crucial technological tools that promote collaboration and partnership within the organization and across cities.
Cities currently rely on the due diligence of neighboring cities for relevant information, studies, and best practices. While cities do have relationships with other city professionals, they do not have a 21st century mechanism that allows them to connect, share information, and collaborate.
We are developing a platform that will aggregate public knowledge and information, through a social networking framework, into a centralized database. Our continued development and improvement will enable public servants to foster intellectual communities online; streamline existing networking channels; and engage with thought leaders from the many fields that contribute toward the overall success of cities.
Through a culmination of knowledge and information directly from or used by civic leaders, civil servants, and public professionals, and while utilizing technology and AI to capture data, will enable for those serving the public sector to have a powerful tool in managing public needs such as homelessness, economic development, data & technology, and even climate change.
We are creating a product that allows the effective sharing of the latest research; provide a centralized platform for hosting said research; connect cities through direct messaging; serve as a news feed that will keep cities aware of the latest studies and public developments.
