In any given city, there are thousands, if not millions, of locations for different activities. Locations to live, locations to work, locations to shop and socialize. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages; for example, living in a good location can lead to cheaper living, reduced climate impact, and overall improved well-being. Furthermore, finding the best location is critical for a wide variety of industries: real estate, travel accommodation, property investment, retail, and municipal governments, to name a few.
However, assessing, comparing, and finding locations is a complex task. There are many aspects of location in a city: its character, such as its vibrancy or calmness; its proximity to various points of interest, such as groceries and parks; and its amenability to different modes of transportation, such as walking or driving. On top of this, everyone’s specific needs for a location differ depending on their unique needs and preferences.

Currently, no good tools exist for analyzing location. Google Maps says nothing about character. StreetView can’t tell you if there are shops and services nearby. WalkScore only considers transportation options. And none of these can be tailored to the individual.
Local Logic addresses these shortcomings with our unique location scoring system. For every street corner in a city, we have quantified 17 different urban factors such as vibrancy, pedestrian friendliness, and proximity to grocery stores. By using our scoring system, it is possible to find a location with the combination of these factors that best suits a citizen’s needs. It is also possible for municipalities to easily understand how well each area performs in a comprehensive way. Thus, our solution for helping citizens and cities is personalizable, multi-dimensional, and lastly, quantitative, meaning it is both searchable and scalable
We provide our scoring system to different industries according to their needs. For web sites such as real-estate listing providers, we provide an API. For researchers, we provide bulk data. For municipalities, we provide both bulk data and specialized analysis tools.
