Problem
According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), about 30% of food produced in developing nations is lost or wasted annually. The problem is due to lack of suitable infrastructure, packaging and lack of marketing information. Post harvest food losses during storage reduces the income of small farmers & food vendors. This result into higher price of food items to consumers which reduce their savings.

Solution
M-Retailer is a peer-to-peer ride sharing, motorcycle, food delivery and transportation network startup located in Kampala, Uganda. Its platform will be accessed via web application and mobile apps.
The app frequently communicates to ETAs, GPS location; calculate the shortest distances, and other information that would be needed.

The app uses APIs to collect information like Google maps direction API, Distance matrix API, Geo-fencing, Google Place, and Google Maps Geo encoding API.
The app utilizes a half-duplex-socket that pushes real time information between servers and mobile apps. The app also uses HTTP protocols built to pull data, and also pushes data that server wants to poll. The protocol also helps to reduce communication overhead. The HTTP protocols, a socket is connected then connected through a port to a server to allow easy exchange of information.
The app is connected to a web server to ensure better performance of real time information.
Processing the payment through the app is done using payment gateway called Braintree. Braintree is used as payment gateway for this real time application to facilitate auto-payments, refunds, monthly/weekly/bi-weekly recurring payments.
We shall register our account with the Payment gateway and ensure that we fill and submit a PCI SAQ_A-EP form. This will help in self-auditing data security and ensure that we comply with security requirements.

Impacts of the Solution
When we reduce post harvest losses of food in developing countries, it implies that 100+ million people will have access to food for consumption. Reducing food loss, will also generate more revenue to food vendors & other people in the food supply chain. This will increase income per Capita and also increase food supply in developing countries.
We shall measure our impact basing on SDG 2:Zero hunger. We shall start our operation from Uganda & later expand to other African Countries.
