In 2018, the JFD announces the creation of the Margaret Foundation, which aims to support and restore the place of women in digital technology, a sector in which they are still largely under-represented, through 5 concrete actions.
Paying homage to Margaret Hamilton, the foundation is the continuation of #lesMargaret Awards, rewarding each year digital women entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs, from Europe and Africa who change the world thanks to digital.
On a mission to give women back their place in the digital world, a sector in which they are still largely underrepresented, the Margaret Foundation embodies JFD’s commitment to equality by putting in place concrete actions to increase the number of women in the digital world.
One of our goals is to increase access and stimulate the participation of girls in digital and STEM fields, and further promote and support girls' and women’s projects.
Our actions revolve around 5 main pillars:
Role models (les Margaret Awards, visibility for women in digital, promotion,..)
Education (Fellowship awards for digital education, teaching Digital Skills..)
#lesMargaret Awards, given by our Margaret Foundation, in honor of Margaret Hamilton, the renowned NASA software engineer, rewards creativity, innovation, women’s creativity, and their courage! The awards shed a light on women, entrepreneurs, and intrapreneurs who are changing the world with projects that answer to the world's most pressing challenges.
“Never let fear get in your way! Do not be afraid to continue even when the so-called "experts" say it's impossible. Do not be afraid to be alone, to be different, to deceive yourself, to do and recognize your mistakes, because only those who dare to fail greatly can accomplish great things.” Margaret Hamilton
