Just like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is for a babysitter, we are maternal 911 for the personnel caring for a pregnant woman. Our on-line education program helps to keep the long term provider up-to-date and brings the novice provider up to speed.

We found it very interesting that there are programs for emergency rooms such as advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) and medical patients basic cardiac life support (BCLS), and neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) for the newborn but there are not any mandated programs for a pregnant, laboring, or postpartum woman. And we can tell you, there are many significant health issues that may occur. We want the health professionals to know the evidence to provide the best care for the given situation.

When a new staff professional starts working with pregnant women, Maternal 911 Education System will bring them prepared for any unexpected high acuity, low occurring situation.

What is in it for the participant (professional)? A self-paced, evidence-based education program. Available 24-7 for access with the ability to review modules and refresh, and re-learn the material at any time. The program provides twenty continuing education credits - all licensed professional have requirements each year. These credits are provided for nurses and physicians.

What's in it for the pregnant, laboring, or postpartum woman? A safe health care team focused on positive outcomes.

Upon signing up, the participant is given a link to our learning management system (LMS). In the LMS there is a pre-test, then the module of information on the given topic, and then a post test. The post test must be successfully passed by 80% to move forward. The participant has two attempts to pass the post test.

After all nineteen modules are passed, a certificate populates. The certificate is taken to an assigned trainee who simulates a situation that could occur on the unit. This provides 'hands-on' learning in a simulated environment, solidifying the knowledge gained from the didactics portion. The trainee is provided with the simulation from the LMS by Maternal 911 Education System.
