The use of image analysis based plant diagnosis has emerged in the market, but they too require plant samples to be collected, shipped to a laboratory, imaged under controlled environment and then analysed. While these solutions have demonstrated that image based diagnosis is a viable technology, they too are time consuming and limited in land are covered.
GreenR has developed technology that can acquire, analyze and report on plant health on-site and almost instantaneously. It uses simpler interface that does not require specialists and can be used by anyone working in the farm.
GreenR uses compute vision algorithms to automatically identify and isolate the relevant plant part in an picture acquired by a non-specialist. We do not need the plant part to be extracted and shipped to a laboratory. By using robust algorithms, GreenR can operate in challenging environmental conditions where other imaging solutions would fail. This includes significant background clutter, sharp shadows, and occlusions, among others.
GreenR using Machine Learning at the back-end to first train analytical and predictive computational models for various types of plants and diseases. It uses online databases of pictures of plants to automatically train itself without manual intervention. These self-learning plant and disease computational models are then used to predict the type and magnitude of diseased plant tissue in a picture acquired in the field.

In it's simplest product, GreenR's technology can even be used from a hand-held mobile device making it viable for every type of consumer from large co-operative farms to backyard gardener
