When users go back to the locations they had lived their memories, they are presented with a moment with an augmented reality content. The camera of the phone turns on, and the user is given instructions to hold the phone in a way so that it has a similar angle with the original photo. Then, the subject of the moment (user and his/her loved ones on the photograph) is placed on the camera using augmented reality.

What we observed is that people rarely look back to their memories and attempt to remember them when the memories are kept locked in a hard drive or the cloud. In essence, people do not tend to remember what is kept away, what they cannot see in physical form. Although remembering a memory is not a basic human need, we thought anyone would sympathize after seeing an old photo of oneself. Therefore, there ought to be a mechanism that would remind people of their memories. While doing that, the memories should also have more “power” by means of boosting the feeling of nostalgia. This is why we think a photo may not be enough for one to re-live one’s own memories. Memories represent special moments in people's lives. When these moments are compressed into singular frames or videos stuck inside the frame of a device they lose certain aspects during this transition, such as the emotions they carry. In addition, when a user looks at a photo or a video they can only see it at a fixed perspective of the person who took it which could cause not getting the intended response or feelings when they recall or remember that memory. Therefore, we came up with an idea of software that could possibly make people remember and relive their memories in an extended way. So the main purpose of our application would be to recreate the atmosphere of nostalgia in a digital form that is compatible with nowadays’ world. This new digital form is AR photos.
