We are a group of medical and engineering students attempting to build a prototype of a more efficient airplane wing based on branching patterns observed in biologic systems like trees and lung tissue that optimize surface area. After building early renderings of our concept in the fall of 2020, we began developing a 3D model of our most promising concept using Fusion360, a computer assisted design (CAD) program. We hope that our wing will produce the same amount of lift as a conventional wing while generating less drag. This will allow for more fuel efficient flight....
