Having continued to work with Salim and NOMA AI since their previous application to AlphaLab Health, I am again recommending them to be accepted into this next cohort! Since their previous submission, NOMA has deepened their understanding of the drivers and needs in the women’s health market to validate the positioning of NOMA in this space. They have also been successful at formalizing multiple partnerships for pilots and data use at multiple institutions and for multiple use cases, validating interest in the market and extensibility of the NOMA platform. Salim has also demonstrated the fervor and commitment required to persevere through the challenges of being a first time entrepreneur in the health tech space. I have a high level of confidence that Salim and NOMA will be successful, and even more so with the support and guidance of AlphaLab Health.
I am the founding director of the Big Idea Center at the University of Pittsburgh. In my role I work with many students to help them form and grow their startups. I have worked with Salim Malakouti and NOMA AI for a couple of years, and highly support and recommend NOMA AI. The company plays in a hot space--big data in healthcare--but with a significant competitive advantage in that Salim and his co-founders are experts in the technology behind their product, giving them a leading edge for hospitals and other healthcare institutions (including insurance companies) which want to succeed while increasing overall quality of care. Knowing Salim as I do, I find him smart, determined, and dogged in his approach to NOMA AI, always pushing the company forward from a technical AND business point of view. I believe that NOMA AI will be successful and highly recommend the company and its founders.
As an EIR at Pitt observing NOMA AI’s progress and dedication over the past 6 months, I am enthusiastically recommending NOMA AI to be accepted into AlphaLab Health! Salim is very committed to pursuing NOMA AI as a full time endeavor and has made tremendous progress in transforming NOMA AI from an academic project into a viable startup. As a former CEO from a past AlphaLab cohort myself, I believe that participating in this cycle of AlphaLab Health will give Salim and the NOMA team additional tools to launch their initial pilots, fundraise, and overall support their growth as a business and entrepreneurs. NOMA AI has strong initial use cases in Women’s Health and Emergency Medicine that will allow them to prove the value of their technology to initial health system customers and partners. One of their biggest challenges as a startup will be navigating the organizational complexities of health systems, where access to AHN partners will be an invaluable asset. Best of luck NOMA AI!
