The demand for Node.js developers - and JavaScript developers - is skyrocketing and there is already a dearth of talent in key cities such as Leeds for development jobs with this cutting edge skill set.

Chris Hill and James Brooke are both Northerners who met in London at Makers Academy. We worked together for a year and a half on client work until Chris joined SkyBet (one of the companies with this pressing recruiting issue) and James doubled down on his full stack JS training by attending the most demanding coding school in the world - Hack Reactor in San Francisco.

We've both experienced good, great and bad with regards to our 0 to 80 training to get into software development and we're sure that we can do better.

We will provide a 13 week training course on Node.js and related skills in Leeds city center. We'll monetise through tuition (£5k/student) and 'recruitment agency' fees when we place our graduates (approx 20% of a starting salary of £25,000 = 5k).

We'll aim to deliver 4 cohorts of 15 students in year 1 (beginning January 2016) and allowing for 30% hit on our figures for different reasons, expect to make £420k of revenue in year 1.

It's feasible to scale the Leeds operation to 8 cohorts of 20 students per year as well as growing the business to service other growing tech sectors such as Bristol/Bath and Glasgow/Edinburgh.

This is a huge potential market - strongloop.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/final-node-infographic-3-18-15v1.pdf - and one that we're both passionate about delivering an awesome product to service.

I've worked with James and Chris on a couple of early stage ventures and they're both extremely competent, adaptable and business oriented. Their knowledge and capability have increased significantly over the time that I've known them and their recent experience of intensive coding schools with here and in the US will stand them in good stead with this project.
