In short, novosound is an IP rich company with physics at its core. It develops and sells sensors which are manufactured using an innovative thin film deposition process. This is in comparison to the current methods of machining and manufacturing ultrasound sensors out of rigid materials which have not changed much for over 40 years.

This new manufacturing technique allows new ideas for the concept of an ultrasound sensor and, as well as solving major problems with current sensors, opens up new opportunities for wearable and embedded ultrasound sensors as we enter Industry 4.0.

Currently, novosound sells sensors for ultrasonic non-destructive testing in the Oil and Gas, Aerospace and semiconductor markets. This includes the world’s first truly flexible imaging sensor for detection of flaws and defects in complex geometries (such as wind turbine blades and aircraft wings), permanently installed sensors for continuous monitoring of high temperature assets, and high-resolution probes for acoustic microscopy.
