This is a mobile and web application that geo-maps the accident and emergency response ecosystem of Kenya and activates the platform to alert the registered paramedics within geo-mapped radius, ambulance and air rescue services available, police stations, and classified hospitals, which are equipped with blood-banks, ICUs and Theatres, within the vicinity. To reduce the distance and response time, the paramedics are located in Emergency Care Centres within geo-mapped locations, equipped with life-saving GPS-tracked Emergency Kits.
In case of trapped accident victims, vehicle-cutting equipment stored at the Emergency Care Centres will be used instead of the rudimentary axes and machetes which aggravate injury and cause death.
We are helping reduce the rate of fatalities caused by slow response of Emergency response providers towards road and home accidents while providing employment to paramedics registered on an incremental basis based on their service ratings.

We are helping reduce the rate of fatalities caused by slow response of Emergency response providers towards road and home accidents while providing employment to paramedics registered on an incremental basis based on their service ratings.

By providing a rating system in the application, we are allowing users to rate the service they receive when the Nurse In Hand paramedics attend to them. This motivates the Nurse In Hand paramedics to offer excellent services each time they are called upon to serve. The rating system allows us to publish the top 5 paramedics per county who end up been published across dailies and media in appreciation for their excellent work. This serves as a reward mechanism aligned with social stratification whereby the society, especially in Africa, categorizes people into socioeconomic strata, based upon their occupation and income, social status and power.

An awarded paramedic attains a social position higher than a low rated paramedic bringing joy to the family and community. This creates a ripple effect to excel.

As of 2012, there were 50,025 nurses aged 60 years of age or younger registered to practice nursing in Kenya and 5,066 over 60 years. Kenya has just 1.03 health workers (doctors, nurses, midwives, and clinical officers) per 1,000 population, compared with the WHO recommendation of 2.30 per 1,000 population.

Statistics indicate that there are more nurses in the job market than hospitals/health providers in Kenya. This is a great initiative to boost health care services, accessibility and more so creating jobs for the unemployed yet qualified nurses. Good Job, well done Stanley and Lucy.

Levit Nudi CEO at Code-inn

Our health care system is broken. With very few doctors and nurses, the quality of clinical outcomes are compromised. With this idea, people will have improved access to health care services even in the rural settings. The long term impact of such a system will be realized in reduced disease epidemics, reduced mortality rates and improved patient experience. On the other hand the clinics will operate more efficiently due to improved response to emergency situations. I therefore recommend this project as one that is solving a very pressing African need.

Maumau Njuguna

Wow! Nurse In Hand - What a great initiative! The link alone to access nurses when in need will go along way to help improve healthcare and create jobs for otherwise trained but unemployed. I highly recommend this initiative for funding and mentor-ship because clearly the benefits are numerous. Congratulations Lucy and Stanley. Can't wait for the launch. Will reach out to offer help on this in anyway i can.

This is an incredible innovation that is overdue for the African continent. Too many lives are lost everyday just because first hand response to a critical medical situation is not available. Nurse In Hand will largely solve that problem. I fully recommend they be supported in every way possible.
Thank you.
