Ocra - أجرة

Ocra is a mobile wallet for micropayments aimed at digitising all little cash in Egypt by 2030. We basically help people pay for public transportation using their smartphones. We also help drivers collect their fees cashlessly, and help public transportation agencies go digital.

In light of the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have to think of those most vulnerable amongst us. That is why we are launching a Business Solidarity Initiative to help riders and drivers of microbuses make it through the tough times.

COVID-19 survives on banknotes for a complete day, and on coins for 3 days. That is compared to just 10 minutes on our skin. Cash is the only payment method on microbuses.

Microbuses are run as small businesses, and their drivers are workers of the gig economy, with no stable employment or source of income. Social Distancing Policies force them to seek donations, or crime.

Good news is: the external surface of a microbus can be utilised as a marketing platform, that is way cheaper and more effective than a billboard.

With half the monthly rent of a single billboard, you can buy Ad spaces on an entire bus route composed of 10 buses rotating around the city all day, with a total area of 200 square meters for microbuses or 350 square meters for minibuses.

Every cent you pay will go to support those most vulnerable amongst us and protect them from catching an infection in public transportation.

A third of the rent will go to discount the bus fare for riders. A third will go to avail a cashless payment option on the buses with your Ad on them. And a third will go to provide cash incentives to drivers.

Your participation in our initiative will: 1. discount the bus fare for the public, 2. support freelancing drivers to make it through the tough times, 3. provide a digital payment method on microbuses, 4. buy you greater Ad spaces than you could have gotten, 5. save you at least half your advertisement budget
