Our “Proof Of Concept” shows that it is possible to make energy consumers aware of their energy behavior. An app-based IOT integration shows how much energy is being consumed by a certain device. At the same time, the quantity of energy being produced by the power sources around the consumption device is presented in the app. The energy supplier can inform the consumer about the outcome of a certain behavior. The consumer can react accordingly. This POC shows that, even if people won’t modify significantly their behavior, energy suppliers can set a transparent communication strategy to engage with consumers that are willing to use their energy. To manage the system, OEEX develops a customer centric insights platform which gives the energy supplier the possibility to define and manage the rollout of its chosen IOT product bundle. In the case of our POC, a smart plug bundled with a payback system.

The foundation of our MVP lies on the insights platform which helps energy producers to market their energy better as bundle with IOT devices. For example, energy suppliers can attach energy contracts to specific hardware. It also helps producers to optimize their own energy consumption in relation to the energy production. OEEX calls “energy efficiency” the efficient use of energy, not the mere energy savings. To use energy more efficiently, each customers’ segment needs its own product bundle. Therefore, the OEEX platform works as a sandbox to make different components available to energy producers. OEEX helps to bundle and roll them out with the goal to help producers and consumer to exchange energy and services over the platform.
