This is an opportunity to engage with the community, network, crowdfund, obtain feedback on your idea and maybe win a little cash. The 2016 festival attracted more than 50K people in one day! The Festival will run 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM both days and will be preceded by a kickoff concert Thursday night, April 5th.
Filling out the application on f6s is free. Those accepted to exhibit and promote their idea, product or service at the Innovation Festival will pay $125.
The event will be structured by category or "Zones". Those zones will be Healthcare (HealthSpark*), Education (EdSpark*), Technology (TechSpark*) and Social Good (SocialSpark*). A potential fifth category will be a General category based on the review of submissions.
Five teams will be selected within each Zone by judges to compete in a presentation competition, called Spark Tank. The winners of each Zone will receive $5,000 and will then compete for an additional $20,000 to determine the Top Creator/Innovator of the festival.
Spark Tanks are our version of a pitch competition. Each team is given 45 minutes with a team of judges, from Venture Capital to subject matter experts. The first portion of each pitch is the presentation of the idea to cover specific topics (idea, market size, business model, etc.). The second portion is a Q&A session from the panel of judges, followed by advice and feedback.
All for-profit Spark Tank winners will be required to sign a non-recourse convertible note (SAFE) which converts to equity at a discount upon the venture's next funding round. Details of this note will be explained prior to the event so everyone understands the concept. We are not asking for 5% of your company, just the chance to be in the next funding round given the platform and exposure One Spark, and participation in a Spark Tank, provides each team. Non-Profit entities that participate in Spark Tank will be asked to sign a different agreement since no future equity is available in these entities.
If you are ready to be in the arena, share your ideas, receive great feedback, crowdfund and network, please apply.more
