Oriense created wearable device for blind and visually impaired, that solves three major problems: obstacle avoidance, geo-navigation and image recognition.

There are 300M of blind and visually impaired people in the world, but 98% of them are limited in their daily live because just 2% have an exclusive thing - a guide dog.

Our product is an electronic alternative - talking device, which helps to navigate from point A to point B, to bypass obstacles and to know what's around.

We already sold 100 test devices in Eastern Europe without insurance reimbursement, with just 2% of returns.
We have signed reseller agreement for US, Germany and Poland - min. 1000 devices in 2017.

Now we’re raising $0.5M to finance our steps in 2017:
$250k for the mass-production
and $250k for sales rollout in the Netherlands, Poland, Germany and US....

The Oriense team was a resident in our startup-accelerator iDealMachine in St. Petersburg, Russia. During the acceleration program they were able to produce a working prototype of their product and many a lot of progress towards the market. After the program they were able to get the prototype into production and shipped the first production batch to the users. Their product shows a lot of promise, user reviews are very positive and the team is working hard towards next version of the device. They do need improvement in sales side of the operations, we hope with additional funding they will be able to hire an individual that will be able to jump start their sales.

Oriense is a true "garage-baked" start-up. The founders passed a long way, made every entrepreneur's mistake and overcomed the so-called valley of death: from understanding the market and the business model to product and technology development, from early adopters to releasing a pilot batch of devices. At each stage the Skolkovo Foundation and I personally accompanied the team, helping to solve problems. In general, making a social startup is not easy in Russia and in the World in general. While in Europe and the United States the Social Entrepreneurship is actively supported by the goverment, in Russia it is still very difficult to develop such projects. However, I believe that with the help of seed investors and well-known world accelerators Oriense team can reach their customers all over the world and bring real value!

Michael Averbach General Partner at iDealMachine

Oriense is one of the brightest projects in our portfolio. It represents what we want to see as responsible entrepreneurship.

The product they've built is not simply a money making opportunity, but an answer to a serious problem in the modern society, where cutting edge computer vision technology is used to address an issue of equality and general rights of people with disabilities.

Company could've used it's technology in industrial, or robotic application, but have consciously chosen the most difficult application, but the one that can positively impact lives of the most vulnerable people in our society.

We believe in their success and will continue to support their march to success.
