To solve this problem we need a cost-effective way to see the “big picture” – and satellites are ideal for that. We use over 5 petabytes of open and commercial satellite data to monitor agriculture global activity. We fuse data from a variety of different sources (optical, microwave, radar) to maximize the accuracy of our models.

* Yield Forecast. We take stacks of satellite data, detect areas with agriculture activity, identify what grows there, and deliver a weekly forecast of yield for key commodity crops (corn, rice, wheat, soybeans, sugarcane, cotton, coffee, cocoa).
* Risk Assessment. We use over a decade of historic satellite imagery to identify areas with high probability of crop failure and delivery a “risk map” that helps insurance companies intelligently price their products.
* Claim settlement. We monitor vegetation health before and after claimed crop failure to quickly assess real damage and minimize fraud.
