PANONIT is a company registered in Serbia for research and development and small scale production in the field of information technologies. Few years ago the company started with the development in the field of innovative solutions for agriculture. PANONIT’s products include micro-climate remote-sensing equipment and applications for precision agriculture. Founded by professors from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad, Serbia, PANONIT is today an innovative SME employing more than 30 engineers in two locations – Italy and Serbia. In 2014, PANONIT's founders from Serbia founded start-up PANONIT SRL in Trento, Italy, and established cooperation with the local producers and researchers from University of Trento.

The team consists of engineers and specialists of different profiles, mostly in the fields of computer science and economy. Our cross-functional team consists of BSc and MSc level engineers in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, telecommunications, as well as mechanical engineering, economics, business administration and management.
PANONIT is a producer of a state-of-the-art solution for continuous and remote monitoring of soil-moisture and micro-climate parameters of interest for agricultural production (PanSense). The PanSense system consists of a number of independent solar-powered measurement stations able to automatically measure and report on conditions such as the content of water (moisture) in the soil, precipitation, wind speed and direction, air temperature and humidity, rainfall, solar radiation and leaf wetness. Based on this information, the system warns users when conditions are favorable for disease development, enables smart irrigation scheduling and supports an electronic diary of production activities. We also currently conducting research project aimed at integrating additional sensors, such as toxic gas sensors and a soil pH sensor. The company's founders are University professors with expertise in the field of image/video processing, computer vision, data mining and machine learning, neural networks, deep learning, electronic devices prototyping and embedded systems programming and manufacturing.
