Amazing things Paul's made
Besides SMAP, the most amazing experience I had was in working at the NASA Glenn Research Center. My favorite project involved designing a power management system for the RESOLVE lunar rover.

The rover’s mission would involve driving around the moon, shooting a laser at the rocks, collecting the released hydrogen and oxygen, and recombining it to make water. To do this, the rover needed power and a management system that would extend the life of the mission as long as possible. Working closely with my mentor, we developed a solution that would effectively balance power from an attached solar panel with the onboard battery, significantly expanding the mission capabilities.

Aside from the hands-on engineering experience and the “it’s not rocket science” jokes, my favorite part was in explaining why the project was important for scientific development. It inspired my interest in technology policy and established my passion for bringing amazing technology achievements to the world.

Melvyn Weeks Assistant Professor at Faculty of Economics, University of Cambridge recommended Smart Meter Analytics Platform where Paul is Co-Founder

I am an assistant professor in the economics faculty at the University of Cambridge. I also advise the UK energy regulator, the Office of Gas and Electricity Markets (OFGEM), on matters relating to modelling. The primary focus of my research is econometric modelling, with a particular emphasis on energy. I have been working with the SMAP Energy team directly for several months. The algorithmic methodology underlying SMAP is certainly novel and proactively addresses many elements of the energy data collection restrictions. I'm looking forward to continuing working alongside the team as we aim SMAP at addressing big challenges like vulnerable customer monitoring.

Though SMAP Energy was only recently founded, it is clear that the team is highly qualified and are well positioned to help usher utilities into the next generation of technological growth. We are definitely interested in exploring a commercial implementation with SMAP to help advance MEDC and Oman as a whole for better utilization of the resources and efficiency of the available assets."

I am the CEO of NEEDS, an energy sector consultancy firm with high regional level group of experts who was involved in utility digital transformation and smart grid projects with more than 4 Billion dollars projects in four regional countries. SMAP is the next-generation of data analytics solutions in energy, and I plan to include them on my future projects."

Climate-KIC is supporting SMAP Energy's development via its European acceleration programme based in London. The team have a great idea with a clear market need that can also address the climate change challenge. It's a pleasure to work with such a bright, outward looking team with great business, scientific and technical skills.
