Pellet Mexico is a startup developing the scarcely explored biomass and bioenergy market in Mexico. Utilizing residues from the forestry, food and agriculture industries, we harness the energetic potential of biomass, developing a circular economy model in which we relate agricultural activities to the production of energy. Our business model is defined by its regional scope and the partnering with local companies that own the residue from which the production of solid biofuels, from different available feedstocks, is made possible. These biofuels will be produced harnessing the local potential of bioenergy in different territories of Mexico and will substitute the regional fossil fuel consumption in the industrial, tourism and domestic sectors, situated in a 200km radius from the production mill. Mexico has great potential for the development of biofuels as replacement for fossil fuel, large volumes of agricultural shear, significant amounts of organic waste in cities and rural areas...
Mexico has great potential for the development of biofuels as replacement for fossil fuel, large volumes of agricultural shear, significant amounts of organic waste in cities and rural areas are currently not being utilized in any way. In recent years our country has advanced in a constitutional energy reform, which enhances the adoption of non fossil fuel based energies, and compromises a clean energy generation of 37% by 2024 (approximate 16% current clean generation, an additional 21% in only 4 years). Environmental policy is developing incentives that favor the adoption and investment in clean energies and the participation in green bond markets and carbon offset programs. All these elements joined together show the strategic potential of developing the bioenergy market and the biomass sector in specific. By covering the whole value chain of producing the biofuel, commercializing it and adapting the industry and domestic sectors for biofuel consumption, Pellet Mexico will contribute to the creation of a new market in Mexico with an energetic production potential derived from different feedstocks: forest 1,923 PJ/yr; woody biomass 1,135 PJ/yr and an agricultural residues potential of 472 PJ/yr (using 40% of residues mostly corn, cane, wheat and shorgum). On the side of consumption, a potential market for substituting 567PJ of fossil fuels in the industrial, hospitality and domestic sectors, which in sum have a fuel demand of 375PJ covered with LPG Gas and of 192PJ covered with diesel oil, a potential market for substituting 567PJ. which incentivizes the development of a green economy by efficiently managing residues. Launched at the Founders Institute.
