plasticfish identifies products made with recycled ocean plastic so that users worldwide can buy them, removing plastic from the ocean in the process.
In order to achieve this we:
- Certify that collection centers, recycling plants and factories are using ocean plastic and allow them to use the plasticfish seal/brand in those batches
- Facilitate coordination, connection and direct negotiation between each adjacent players in the circuit "Collector <-> Recycler <-> Manufacturer <-> Brand", creating a marketplace
- Provide training and technical support regarding best practices for collection and recycling in order to assure that the manufacturing industry receives the best possible quality of the desired plastic
- Market and present the brand to the general public. The main focus here is empowering everyday citizens to be an hero and help the planet. You buy, you are saving the ocean by removing that specific piece of plastic!
- Lobby and influence global, regional, national and local institutions to facilitate integration and usage of recycled ocean plastic, through every incentive possible, from tax cuts to fiscal benefits to subsidies, etc
- Support and develop R&D efforts to extract micro plastic and deep sea plastic in a cost effective manner. Though the initial focus is to remove and recycle big plastic pieces before they break into smaller ones, and that will take a couple of years, all other plastic should be extracted and ways to scale this must be found
