Power phoenix battery is a tech darling developed in the lab of TEMA, University of Aveiro, a game changer for the grid-scale battery sector. It envisions big things on both global and local grid-scales. Power Phoenix will provide a battery of 800kW (4,800kWh) power, with 1000V DC output that can be scaled up to 80MW by linking 10 batteries together. The product is a grid-scale battery for battery integrators who provide different solutions to solve the issues of intermittent generation of renewable energy and instability of the grid. Unlike Li-on, NaS, Lead-acid and NaNiCl batteries, Power Phoenix battery can offer 20 years lifetime (10000 cycles), higher energy density, 2-3x higher than Li-ion battery, 2ms response time, 3.65% electricity energy loss for 1 Year (low self-discharge rate, 0.01%)--10 times less than Li-ion battery and lead-acid battery.
