Precious Plastic Den Haag gives plastic waste a second life. At our studio in the upcoming Binckhorst, we create a visible and accessible recycling process where plastic waste is being transformed into new and functional products. Through design and innovation, we make people aware of the plastic problem and inspire them to see plastic as a valuable material.

How it works

We receive our plastic bottle caps from Afval Loont which exchanges waste for cash. The plastic waste gets distributed over 4 social workplaces located in The Hague. Here people wash, dry and sort by type and color bottle caps. The sorted bottle caps get shredded at our studio where the raw material is transformed into new, marketable products.

Our first marketable product is an innovative clamp to reuse your packaging. This clamp resembles a fish and is packed in 3, just like the flag of Scheveningen. We can create any color by using different color bottle caps for different occasions, such as Father’s Day, ki...

Where we started

In February 2017 Precious Plastic Den Haag started off as a hobby project of Suzanne Koops to build Precious Plastic machines. The project Precious Plastic is created by the Dutch Designer Dave Hakkens. He put blueprints of four different plastic recycling machines on the Internet so that everybody could build it themselves. Together with a team of 5 young enthusiasts, we are working to an open plastic studio in The Hague.
