My name is Matthew Lin. I'm 36 years old. I'm a Singaporean, happily married with a 6 year old son, and I have been living in Chiang Mai, Thailand for the past 7 years. I'm an architect by training, a property developer by profession and an entrepreneur by passion. I am right now embarking on my next challenge that is to create disruptive innovations within the proptech and fintech industry that would impact lives.

My journey to get here was a tough steep learning curve. I have been a design architect in a Singapore for more than 10 years including internship, working for 2 of the top 10 architecture firms in Singapore. DP architects and P&T Consultants. The pressure was intense on a daily basis as I was placed in charge of predominantly residential projects in Singapore and personally servicing local property developers like MCL Land, Hong Leong and Wing Tai Asia, at a time when Chinese developers started to enter the market and competition was extremely stiff back in 2010 - 2011...

My journey to get here was a tough steep learning curve. I have been a design architect in a Singapore for more than 10 years including internship, working for 2 of the top 10 architecture firms in Singapore. DP architects and P&T Consultants. The pressure was intense on a daily basis as I was placed in charge of predominantly residential projects in Singapore and personally servicing local property developers like MCL Land, Hong Leong and Wing Tai Asia, at a time when Chinese developers started to enter the market and competition was extremely stiff back in 2010 - 2011.

After my last project which was the peak at Hillview by Kingsford development, I started my own architecture and design firm and moved my operations to Thailand because it was more cost effective and at that time, I was commissioned a number of international projects from India, the maldives and China and it made more sense. My architecture firm went on to win numerous design awards in China and Thailand and I was consulting and designing for a number of local Thai property developers like B2 Hotels on efficiency and value engineering in design. I introduced the bay window concept to them and that became a unique selling point for their boutique and budget Hotels throughout Thailand.

I then went on to develop my own properties and from there was thrown into the deep end when I first started especially when working with other cultures, language barriers and different statutory regulations. I had to quickly learn the skills of managing a management team, finances, P&L, accounting and book keeping to sales and marketing, promotions and advertising as well as still maintaining the design and construction on time and on budget. My accountability now does not stop at the clients and stakeholders but to the end users themselves.

My daily task is to manage my property and design team, network with other property developers as well as manage the sites that are under construction. After which, I spend the rest of my day with my family and investing heavily on my 6 year old son.
