We invented iuvo, a cellphone-independent wearable tech bracelet with real-time GPS that, with the push of a button, can connect the wearer with campus police in an emergency situation. The emergency signal that campus police receives contains the wearers GPS location in real-time as well as the wearer profile. Campus police can then track the signal and intervene in a sexual assault. By using geofencing, iuvo will know when a wearer is off campus and will instead dial out to the police who can communicate with the wearer using a built in microphone. iuvo is comfortable, fashionable, and extremely user friendly. It can alert authorities of a problem in seconds and it allows schools to be more proactive and productive in dealing with sexual assaults on campus. This new form of individualized security has the potential to drastically lower sexual assault rates on college campuses, thus creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for all students. This new form of individualized security has the potential to drastically lower sexual assault rates on college campuses, thus creating a safer and more conducive learning environment for all students. To avoid universities needing to change their hardware or software, the back end of the system is run online, making it easy to implement it across the country. Furthermore, we have designed our business to take a percentage of profits and put it towards awareness campaigns, educational programs, and legislative reform to make a lasting transformation of rape culture.
Within the North Carolina public university system alone there are upward of 7,700 sexual assaults each year, which will be substantially reduced by the adoption of our product. We recognize that the majority of assaults are acquaintance incidents; our band can be extremely effective in such circumstances. The accuracy of the GPS would give campus police locational precision when intervening. The ease and comfort in wearing the bracelet means that an individual can have it on them at all times and activate it even in situations of intoxication.
Wearing iuvo will ultimately provide a student with a greater feeling of safety and security knowing that they can always reach someone in case of emergency. This freedom from fear will allow students to focus on their academics as well as their social lives in a healthy and productive manner and ultimately get so much more from their college experience.

I have a daughter in college, and I would absolutely purchase a device like this to help keep her safe, and also to give me peace of mind. This is a brilliant idea and I am so thankful these young adults had the intellect and passion to create such a device.
