Farmers however use antiquated techniques which lead to overuse or under usage of fertiliser,water which leads to disastrous yields.

Our solution to this problem is “FarmCorder” is a low cost (40$) sensor based agro advisory system. We have developed a new simple and intuitive sensor based system which consists of base hand held module and a mesh of wireless underground probes.
The leaf nutrients are measured by leaf probe which works by
multi-wavelength spectroscopy. The nutrient requirement of the crop is found by clipping the sensor to the leaf, The data is sent to a server using GSM which has widely adopted in even remote locations in India.

Weather data is used to determine fertilizer application, We have developed the device with a cost of only 40$, We have added GPS to the device thus enabling the device to be shared amongst multiple farmers and further reducing the cost of device.
To scale the device up, We are currently working on a OTG compliant sensor device to work with the latest Android One phones to take advantage of the camera in the device to capture images of a leaf in a controlled lighting condition and to process the image in a database using OpenCV and to extract nutrient and infection data.
