About RGU Innovation Accelerator ...
The RGU Innovation Accelerator programme is an opportunity for students, staff and alumni of Robert Gordon University and North East Scotland College to turn their ideas into high-impact ventures. The award-winning annual competition funded by The Wood Foundation looks for passionate, creative and ambitious entrepreneurs to come up with solutions to some of the world's biggest challenges. In our third year, we are looking for innovations which solve one of three challenges:
> Our Society - Recovering from the challenges of Covid-19
> Our People - Designing solutions to reduce inequalities
> Our Wellbeing - Creating new health and mental wellbeing solutions
All innovations should demonstrate a commitment to creating impact and have a positive footprint on the environment. The ideas which show strong potential, a clear understanding of the problem and a unique innovative solution will be invited to a bootcamp phase to explore the idea further. Beyond the bootcamp, a final selection of teams will join the programme and will gain:
> Five months of online business training
> Access to a one-to-one innovation mentor
> Provision of seed funding
> Use of a city co-working space and facilities
> Opportunity to showcase at a final digital event
The programme will run from February 2021 to June 2021 and sessions will take place online during evenings and weekends to be flexible around other commitments.
The RGU Innovation Accelerator shall be open to applications to individuals and teams which meet the following eligibility criteria:
> Individuals with a new idea, where at least one member of the founding team is a current RGU or NESCol student, staff member, or alumni.
> Existing companies or charities where a member of the founding team is a current RGU or NESCol student, staff member or alumni and the company has been dormant, non-trading or trading for no longer than twenty-four months with an income under £100,000.
Once teams submit an online application, this will be reviewed for eligibility and then screened by a panel of judges before the final teams are selected.
Application Deadline: 23:59pm (GMT/UTC) on Sunday 31st January 2021
