Something amazing I helped to build is the extremely positive culture on my lacrosse team. I played Division 1 Women's lacrosse at Brown University (for 4 years). I dedicated 20 hrs a week out of season to this program and 40 hrs a week in-season to this program. Our team of 35 women played lacrosse in the rain, snow, freezing cold etc. It is very easy to find things to complain about, especially when you put in all of this time and do not get playing time. I am one of the girls on the team who did not get a lot of playing time. It is very easy to get upset, frustrated and negative about lacrosse when this happens. What isn't easy to do, is to recognize that you are part of a team and your goal is to make the entire team better, and not just focus on your own playing time. I made this my focus and remained extremely positive through injuries, bad weather, and not getting playing time. I was a role model to the older and younger girls on my team to always be positive and put we over me!
