We build exceptional teams of military veteran web and mobile app developers, and train veterans in a bootcamp environment to join those teams, and to gain real-world experience. Sapper Coding is modeled on the Special Forces Team dynamic. Veterans undergo rigorous training online and or at an onsite bootcamp with instructors and using an online learning platform, and then join teams of developers working on real-world projects. The most difficult part of making the jump to software developer is gaining your first real-world experience collaborating on a development project. Working on a team is core to both military and tech. Sapper bridges two gaps: The gulf between a career of military service and earning a living as a software developer, and the gulf between learning programming, and working on real projects. Sapper is different because we use familiar military lingo, structure, and culture in our online and in-person training, and because we immediately transition veterans onto...

Sapper is different because we use familiar military lingo, structure, and culture in our online and in-person training, and because we immediately transition veterans onto development teams working on real projects for real companies. Having undergone the transition from military leader to developer ourselves, we realized that while the terms are different, the process is similar. Army Rangers and Army Sappers (combat engineers) take initiative, employ systems, and rely on creative problem-solving the same way development teams do. Sapper Coding is a bridge bringing two similar and challenging worlds closer together. Today we are training our first veterans, and building web and mobile apps for companies with a team of veteran and disabled veteran developers. We are building our learning platform, and hoping to purchase our own facilities this fall as a space for development teams and veterans getting up to speed on programming to work side by side.
