I am an of Sendy
Sendy is the mobile app that connects people who want to deliver an item from point A to point B with people who are travelling from point A to point B and are willing to deliver it for a fee. The problem today is that courier deliveries in the UK are:

- Expensive and slow. It can cost you up to £45 for same-day delivery in London and it can take up to 7 hours. The Sendy app test managed to deliver parcels 30% to 80% cheaper than competitors, with a time saving of up to 5 hours.
- Customer unfriendly. About 50% of CitySprint and 42% of DPD customers rate the service as “Bad”.

At the same time, every day:

- 3.7 million people travel through London

- 480,000 cycle journeys are made in the capital

- 977,000 people travel into London by train

= A giant amount of potential delivery routes

= A giant amount of potential delivery routes

There is a segment of the UK population aged 20-40 that is urbanized and is either in studies, underemployed or unemployed. They have bicycles, cars, scooters and can walk. They move daily and want to make some extra cash. They are 3 million potential Sendy couriers – 500,000 in London alone. The solution to this problem-opportunity mismatch is Sendy.

Sendy is an iOS/Android mobile app that matches senders with deliverers according to item, pickup/delivery point and time/date of delivery preferences. Features:

ID Check – Secure login for both deliverers and senders (VAT/NI Numbers, Social media ID verification)

Geolocation – Sendy finds the available deliverer closest to the location of the sender. This ensures fast pick-up times and full flexibility in choosing when/where/to whom deliver

Item Spec – Sender specifies dimensions/weight or parcel, to match the couriers carriage capacity

Instant Messaging – Sender, Deliverer and Consignee stay in touch in a 3-way conversation in real-time

Secure payments – Sendy wallet allows to pay within the app via credit card and Paypal

Rating & Review System – All users review each other after delivery. Anyone falling under a 4/5 rating is excluded from the platform

Sendy earns a 20% commission out of every delivery fee agreed between Sendy users. The commission is charged only after the delivery has been confirmed and the money comes out of escrow. The commission rate still allows Sendy to still to offer a competitive delivery price vis-à-vis the competition. Sendy also intends to make money on parcel insurance. This will involve charging a 10% commission over the insurance premium.
