The problem we address is about the future scarcity of food resources in the coming decades, caused by
the growth of the world population from 7 to about 10 billion people by 2050. Further critical issues will be
climate change, scarcity of water resources, and desertification which will have a significant impact on the
issue. The Solarfertigation system arose to overcome these critical issues.

deals with design and construction of industrial electrical systems and installations), which supervised the

200k between 2015-2017) with the creation of the functional system and the prototypes. SF System S.r.l.
was born in 2017 and completed the second phase of development, with the first engineering of the
software and hardware system, the first database version, and with the field test of the first seven
prototypes through a contribution from the Molise Region. It's planned to enter the market by 2021.
Solarfertigation is an innovative fertilization and irrigation IoT system for agricultural land, that proposes
itself as the extension of the farmer's hand, integrating software for decision support and hardware
capable of translating them into automated actions (fertilization and irrigation). The solution is energy self-
sufficient thanks to an integrated stand-alone photovoltaic system. The module consists of a complete
hydraulic system with filtering and pumping station, a distribution system with manifolds, pipes, tap
fittings, a venturi tube for the insertion of the fertilizing mother solution into the water and the solenoid
valves which control the different areas into which the entire area is divided. Dosing system of fertilizers
inside the mother solution, consisting of the storage tank (for each fertilizer) and an auger dosing module
for powder/granules fertilizers and volumetric pump for liquid fertilizers. A Wireless Sensor Network (WSN)
format from a network of self-powered sensors the acquisition of the relative humidity of the soil in the
various areas of the field. The stand-alone photovoltaic system consisting of photovoltaic panels, the
inverter for energy conversion, and a storage system (batteries).
