SMAPPER is a social platform that collects point by point real time data on air pollution levels and shares it with the aim of creating an air pollution map of cities and suggesting the cleanest and healthiest route available to users. By dynamically generating pollution maps and employing simple and portable devices, SMAPPER solves the problem of a lack of detailed air quality data and does a better job than a static weather station would. SMAPPER is composed of: SmapNode, SmapNose, SmapApp and SmapServer.
SmapNode is our tool to generate NO2 maps of cities; it's a simple device, to be installed on public transports in order to acquire NO2 and GPS data and send it to SmapServer.
SmapServer is a cloud platform that analyses and stores pollution data.
SmapNose is a cheap and portable device, able to measure NO2 values and send to SmapServer via SmapApp.
SmappApp is the Smapper user interface; it displays dynamic pollution maps for the user benefit and suggests the healthiest route for him....
