Solaga is a Berlin based company focusing on the development and marketing of extremely energy and water-efficient microalgal systems. Solaga harnesses the power of nature to absorb air pollutants such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides and fine dust from the city air. This allows us to provide natural solution that cleanses the air where we need it, e.g. right on in your office. For this, we started to commercialize the world’s first microalgae interior product ALWE. So far, we have conducted studies on the uptake of CO2, NOx, fine dust and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Alwe (patent pending) originates from the idea to provide clean and natural air straight where we need it most – in our offices. Alwe is an eco-efficient artwork that brings nature into our interior. It cleanses and moisturizes the air and makes natural air inside. It contains a water tank which needs to be filled up every week like a normal room plant. For this they evolved specialized photosystems, which allow these microorganisms cleanse the air even in difficult light conditions corresponding to typical indoor and in office lightning.
But trapping air pollutants is not the whole story: Such as plants microalgae are photosynthetic meaning that they consume CO2 with the help of sunlight. We patented a system that uses microalgae to convert CO2 into easily storable biogas (EP3109311A1).
