We developed a low cost heat exchanger that couples to any photovoltaic panel to get the residual thermal energy, heating the water and cooling the cells. With the heat exchanger, the photovoltaic panel is transformed into a “2 in 1” system, hybrid, that produces more electricity and hot water. We also develop specific softwares to size the installation with hybrid solar panel. With our solution, you will have an unique installation that produces electricity and hot water with the same panel. Due to the cooling of the solar cells, the photovoltaic efficiency is higher. The power production can increase up to 20 % and the water up to 45 degree Celsius is easily obtained.

By this way, the electricity consumption can be reduced of 30 % due to hot water production. This will reduce the size of a photovoltaic installation. Consequently, the payback time of a photovoltaic installation coupled with our system is reduced of one or two year, from 6-8 years to 4,5-6,5 years. Thus, the initial investment of the installation is reduced of more than R$5000 for a traditional brazilian residence.

This solution is sold to energy efficiency project offices along with training on the technology.
