If your company was given the same notice like ours and you have to apply to another accelerator there are a few things we ourselves are considering if we ever take this route again in reference to accelerators.
Back tracking we looked at the code of conduct of Techstars afterwards, and of course we weren't told the exact reason but these are the few things the team and I came up with.
Right after the bold text in the code of conduct “We act with integrity” we found that perhaps this section was violated and perhaps a reason
8. We disclose known conflicts of interest early. We err on the side of too much disclosure.
So from one leader to another be cautious of with what you post in any discussion board there could be another company that creates a conflict within the program. For us we leaned towards this theory based on our notice being given 83 seconds after posting we were accepted in a channel partner program but this is just a theory.
In addition to that possible theory we took a look back at past posting and came to an agreement perhaps our sharing may have been seen as spam. Since most of our post usually obtained some form of cross selling perhaps without knowing we violated
20. We are not spammers. We do not send bulk unsolicited email nor do we scrape contact lists and abuse them. We don’t harass prospective customers who have clearly said no to us and opted out of communications.
So again be cautious as to the frequency and the content of what you’re sharing. Where we used the board in hopes to generate discussions and feedback which we got and perhaps forge friendships, we couldn’t help to notice the frequency of posting was larger than anyone else.
To close we looked at Techstars code of conduct because even as applicants, it is our belief that Techstars would like every applicant to behave and conduct themselves in the same manner as mentors, investors, employees, and contractors.
We agree with John when it comes to hustling and keep building. As founders/owners were going to have bumps and disappointments, what we learn from these disappointments and how we apply what we learned is what will set us apart from those that make it and those that fail.
Be proud of what you built and keep pushing forward. Remember a lot of the major fortune 500 were turned down for support: HP, Apple, Check Point, Ebay , Facebook, Fedex, Google, Intel, Intuit, Kayak, Compaq, PayPal, Cisco, and Tesla. All turned down at one point and now look at them. Keep building One groups bad judgment is not your lost believe in yourself, your team and your company.- Nerd Junkie
