The well-known Staten Island Basketball League at Public School 8 in Great Kills, Staten Island was founded by Craig Raucher in 1980. It is the oldest and longest-running group at the same location in the history of the New York City school system. The ages of the players range from 26 to 68 and the league is not run in a traditional way. During each three-hour session on Tuesday, Wednesday nights, and Saturday mornings most players have played six full-court games. It is a great workout and a highly competitive experience.
