Why be a tourist when you can be a pirate? Or the apprentice of a hero? Or survive a zombie apocalypse? At Story City YOU get to be the hero, you get to choose your adventure.

Story City makes you the hero of your own story, giving you the chance to take part in your own adventure in locations across the world. Whether you’re a reader, an adventurer, a traveller, a family, a gamer, or maybe even a geocacher, our stories take you to the most interesting locations around the city with fictional adventures created by local writers and artists who know their city best.

Story City is a social enterprise that wants to redefine stories so they are something you're a part of rather than just told. The Story City app, currently a free GPS app for Android and Apple, creates interactive narratives that occur in the location the audience is standing. Story City is a social enterprise that wants to redefine stories so they are something you're a part of rather than just told. The Story City app, currently a free GPS app for Android and Apple, creates interactive narratives that occur in the location the audience is standing. For the app to open the story, you must be standing in the correct location. Whether they be real-life choose your adventures through city streets, puzzle trails, or historical tales, every Story City story is created by local writers, artists and musicians who know their cities best.

Our our initial model was a B3B one, working with Councils and other organisations who provide funding for us to run free day-long training workshops for writers, artists and musicians in interactive narrative. From there we select a team of artists to mentor in creating stories for that city/area. The stories are provided for free on the Story City app and aimed to engage families, youth and tourists with the public spaces of the city.

While we currently have stories in six cities across Australia, and two in South America, this model has limitations as it relies on slow moving councils and organisations for large sums of money. Now that Story City has proven its viability and popularity, we wish to pivot to a marketplace (available to creatives and tour-makers world-wide) that doesn’t require large contracts to be sustainable and deliver its mission of training artists, and providing them with opportunities to be published.

We want to be the global hub for local stories, fictional game experiences, self-guided historical, food, art tours. We want you to be able to go anywhere in the world and use Story City to discover a new place. And when you pay for a Story City adventure or tour, that money goes direct to the local person that made it.

Story City is a great concept and deserves some serious support.

Story City is such a fun and innovative way to tell stories, and so much effort is put in by the organiser(s). SC helps people to think outside the box, and I'm looking forward to seeing the project expand as it's resources increase!
