Big Tech has People of Color (POC) massively under-represented. Schools in low-income areas from which POC mostly come from are not properly equipped to provide students with STEM education. Schools either lack the funding to purchase hardware and software and/or educational staff to teach the STEM courses sufficiently. This is why I created Taayo Tech as a solution. Currently, it has been a great success with amazing reviews which makes my younger and older self ecstatic.

Taayo Tech (TT) is a unique STEM education company created by myself, Yinka Alade, a 12+ year pro in the videogame and digital art industry. I have experience doing digital artwork and marketing for Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Hasbro, Dreamworks, EA, and more. I've worked on massive IPs such as Star Wars, Transformers, The Sims 4, WWE, Madden NFL, and more. I also co-own a videogame company named Area 2 Games and own Rooted Pots which uses 3D printing to create Afrocentric planters that sell worldwide. This experience and my black journey through Big Tech allows me to show students of color (SOC) the representation of themselves in tech.

Taayo Tech (TT) brings our SOC affordable dynamic STEM courses taught by veteran industry professionals who are also POC. We provide all the hardware and software needed by students. By getting SOC involved early into STEM, we will be able to provide larger numbers of POC available for hire in the future for tech. TT not only teaches kids how to code/design videogames, 3D print, rapid prototype, and more, but we also teach in every course how the business of the related topic works. For example, if a student is in a TT course about videogame design, we breakdown the various ways the multi-billion dollar videogame industry works. We dive deep into the games they love like Fortnite and Candy Crush to reveal the exact money making tactics these games employ. This is what we call the Ivy League approach where teaching one how to fish isn't enough. We must also teach you how to package and sell the fish to build an empire. This is vital because creating a larger pool of POC for Big Tech to interview doesn't mean Big Tech will hire more POC. We can't control what the minds in Big Tech choose to do with their hiring practices. However, what we can control is giving SOC at a young age the blueprint to how all of these industries work on the business level so that an option is building their own platform thus having the ability to hire themselves and each other.
