I met the Tavolo team a few years ago during a Twin Cities Startup Weekend that I helped organize. They were a standout group that had the right people doing all the right things. As a graduate of the most recent Techstars Retail program, I know this team will evolve and deliver during their time in the program. At these early stages, it's always about the team and this team is definitely one of the best.
This group of founders have hustle, grit, and are intellect. The worst parts about the dining experience both involve waiting: Waiting to get into the actually restaurant (an app called NoWait helps solve this problem--they were acquired by Yelp for ~$50M) and waiting to get your food and pay fo your food when you're in. They have a solid idea that can work if executed well and with the right strategy. Solid Idea + Great founders + (potentially) Good market opportunity. It's a good bet!
I met this team at Startup Weekend Twin Cities and I love this concept! As a foodie myself, there's a great deal of planning that goes in to an excellent dining experience. The ordering and paying and waiting is a process that I would love to do discretely so the experience is focused on my date/company. The real value of this app is to give immediate feedback to the restaurants so they can continue to improve and provide the best experience to their loyal customers.
