We started the business as a backyard poultry farm in Karu extension majorly for broilers production, with the support and encouragement of my wife, who is a veterinary consultant for various farms within Abuja and Plateau State. Because of space constraint and disturbance to co-tenants, we moved the birds to a friend's farm in Orozo. With adequate veterinary support and biosecurity, we are able to maintain 500 layers stock and supply clean, well sorted eggs to supermarkets, egg retailers and bakeries around Nyanya, Karu and Jikwoyi axes.
Our strength lies in our knowledge of poultry production and management we have gathered over the years while working in other peoples farm. Understanding of the poultry business and the wealth we can create through production efficiency and job creation have given us the drive to want to succeed in this business.
The current market within Abuja for eggs is less than the demand considering the ever increasing population. We want to expand to 5000 layers or more in our own farm unit with adequate space and a conducive environment for optimum production.
One problem that limits our success is increasing cost of feeds. We believe that this can be reduced if we have a strategic partner for the supply of feeds or integrate the farm by producing our own feeds since we have a good understanding of the required formula for optimum production.
We have operated the business up till this time by ourselves, relying on personal labour and savings to maintain the business. If we are to grow and reach the level of productivity we desire, we need a good push in terms of financing and strategy partnership. With this, we are confident that we will surpass customers expectation, create jobs by binging passionate people into the business, mentor others and achieve all other objectives.
