Once a user selects a tour, Trailblazer directs them to the travel supplier or online travel agency to complete the purchase. Services are free for travellers. Revenue comes via: (i) referrals to travel suppliers and OTAs, also known as distribution revenues (6-10% of the product price), and further down the line (ii) ad revenues from advertising placements on the website and mobile application.

I've used my own money to pay a software development company in Birmingham to develop a prototype version of the website - the API is populated with dummy data and we require further funding to us to integrate with each available supplier in order to power the database with live data - we already have arrangements with 5 market leading tour providers who will allow us to do so.

Some of the websites features include user accounts and online favouriting. In order to save favourites cross-device, the system has a login feature. Once a user is logged in, all their favourites will be stored in the cloud and available from all of their devices. This will be implemented as a social login (Facebook), email/password login, or both. Once a user is logged in, tracking their viewed trips and historic search filters becomes available. These kind of analytics will be extremely powerful when it comes to retargeting and email marketing campaigns.

We plan on making the website a destination for Cyclists who visit the website daily for Cycling news, reviews and blog posts. If the website is a success we would like to expand in to other activty holidays (walking, kayaking, skiing etc).
