At Vector we accept that paper will continue to drive supply chains in the foreseeable future, but we don’t accept that paperwork processing has to be such a manual burden.

At a functional level our platform allows our customers to process supply chain paperwork in a radically faster way by using text and image recognition to assist human operators’ decision-making. From only a scanned image we can identify a document and extract the relevant data fields contained in that document. With this extraction as a foundation we allow decisions to be made using a rules engine that sits visually on top of the document. These decisions can be compliance decisions, consistency checks, credit checks and more.

At a strategic level we currently ‘augment’ rather than ‘automate’ out a human operator. We provide an intuitive user interface that guides an operator to correct errors and tie these corrections back into our core algorithms to retrain and improve future performance. The goal...

The goal is to improve over time and fully automate the vast majority of these processes.

As we ultimately automate paperwork and the business rules that govern decisions on paperwork, it is our belief that we can create an entirely digital supply chain service provider, such as a fully automated trade finance or freight forwarding platform.

Taking this approach a step further, we believe that we can finally create a de-facto standard for global supply chains by using AI as a proxy for standardization. This is powerful because we don't enforce any one format on every participant, but we can still create the same outcome of 100% interoperability.
