Vet-tech Solutions wants to become the first innovator in the field of veterinary medical informatics. We want to fill the gaps in teaching and learning through supplying educational tools to students of veterinary medicine, improving the efficiency of a veterinary surgeon's time, and educating the public about their animals.

Vet-tech Solutions wants to become the first innovator in the field of veterinary medical informatics. We want to fill the gaps in teaching and learning through supplying educational tools to students of veterinary medicine, improving the efficiency of a veterinary surgeon's time, and educating the public about their animals.

There are few educational tools for the veterinary industry in comparison to the medical industry, yet the veterinary industry is no less important. The veterinary industry needs innovation and development to keep up with the advancements in both science and technology. At the moment, the medical industry is aiming towards incorporating artificial intelligence into their day to day working, where veterinarians are still stuck with a forum designed in the 1990's, using software built for operating systems first introduced ten years ago.

Our first product, Ask Fido, is our most developed. It is based on a basic concept, however it is relevant and important nonetheless - it simply takes too much time for vets and students to gather information from out of date textbooks and research papers when they are time pressured in a clinical or educational scenario. Ask Fido aims to minimize this time taken for a veterinarian, vet student, or even a pet owner to search for correct and accurate details.

Ask Fido is a differential diagnosis generator that allows users to search the clinical signs that a patient (or pet) is displaying, against a database of over 4000 diseases and disorders in order to generate a list of potential diagnoses, ranked from most to least likely. Add a few bits of information about the animal (such as their sex, age etc.), and the search result is even more relevant. Users can then take this list of diseases and research them further via other more detailed databases (such as Wikivet and Vetstream) integrated into Ask Fido.
