Many students lack the skills and training necessary for securing jobs in careers with progressively higher wages and incomes.

To address these challenges, Village Capital is searching for ventures offering technology-driven solutions designed to improve student academic performance and position them for success as they enter the workforce to participate in the Village Capital Education: US 2016 program, held in collaboration with AT&T as part of AT&T Aspire. This three-month program will support entrepreneurs with an award-winning program curriculum, 1:1 mentorship from sector leaders, and tailored engagements with potential strategic partners and investors. At the end of the program, the top two peer selected companies will receive $75,000 in precommitted investment each.

We are especially interested in women and minority-led ventures focused on delivering solutions in the areas of academic skills development, higher education success, and career-readiness.

We are seeking ventures providing solutions across the education and workforce-readiness continuum to participate. Specific examples include, but are not limited to, ventures that:

- Create pathways to careers for individuals from traditionally underserved communities, such as by addressing the cost and quality of higher education, and/or other mechanisms;
- Empower students, teachers, counselors, and parents to manage the college admissions, post-secondary training, and/or career planning processes;
- Increase access for underserved students to STEM careers through training, mentorship, and other educational avenues;
- Offer innovative skill-building, workforce development and industry-specific vocational training;
- Enable hiring managers to conduct more accurate, transparent assessment of skills in the hiring process;
- Improve academic performance and learning outcomes in secondary and post-secondary school that are directly linked to student success beyond the classroom;
- Provide personalized, skills-based education for students, educators, or employer
