The Pearson Affordable Learning Fund and Village Capital are recruiting education entrepreneurs for an incubator program in India, this coming Fall 2013.

Participants will benefit from a tried-and-true curriculum designed to help companies scale up and succeed. The program is semi-residential, with only 12 days of in-person sessions, and incorporates best practices, industry experts including Pearson leadership, and intensive peer review and feedback. Workshops will take place on September 26-29th in Hyderabad, October 24-27th in Delhi and November 21-23rd in Bangalore, with the Investors’ Demo Day on November 23rd. After three months, edupreneurs rank one another on six criteria to select two companies to receive pre-committed seed funding of $75,000 each.

Pearson Affordable Learning Fund:

The Pearson Affordable Learning Fund makes minority equity investments in for-profit companies to meet a burgeoning demand for affordable education services in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The fund was launched in July 2012 with $15 million of initial Pearson capital. The purpose of the fund is to improve access to quality education for the poorest families in the world, investing in private companies committed to innovative approaches and improving learning outcomes.
