Village Capital is partnering with Juhudi Kilimo (juhudikilimo.com) to host an accelerator focusing on high-potential, early-stage companies in Kenya. This program seeks agriculture, agriculture technology, financial technology, energy and clean technology solutions. We are especially interested in ventures that solve problems faced by all Kenyans or, specifically, smallholder farmers in Kenya.

The program is focused on peer mentoring and peer selection of the best teams by the entrepreneurs themselves. It consists of three skills-based workshops focused on training entrepreneurs to think like investors with coaching and mentoring from successful entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts. The program will culminate with a Demo Day, at which each company will present to a group of investors.

The accelerator starts August 14th with a four-day workshop in Nairobi. Subsequent engagement will include two additional in-person, 4-day sessions in September and October and remote collaboration through 4 online webinars.

Village Capital is a seed-stage impact investment fund that identifies, trains and invests in high-growth, high-impact companies across the globe. This accelerator will be Village Capital’s 26th accelerator program worldwide.

Juhudi Kilimo provides asset-based loans and training to smallholder farmers and enterprises in Kenya. They have served more than 30,000 clients using their approach that promotes long-term gains in productivity and supports whole communities.
