Village Data Analytics

Village Data Analytics (VIDA) makes visible and analyses the needs of remote villages to planners and investors - anywhere in the world, reliably, fast and at scale.

With VIDA we can evaluate remote villages in an entirely new way: Combining population information with infrastructure, socio-economic factors, agriculture, and the natural environment allows us to extract patterns and insights that catalyse large scale investment into development infrastructure. It is a Google Maps for the development world.

From our own, deep experience of working in remote frontier markets we understand how a lack of reliable, scalable decision-making data holds the development sector back. That is why we built VIDA.

VIDA builds on powerful new data and computing technologies. On the back end, it is highly standardised around a set of databases and AI algorithms that analyse satellite imagery and on-ground data at scale. On the front end, it can be flexibly applied to different user challenges. Results, across a user-selected area of interest, are presented in an interactive, smart map. This map can encompass an entire country and then filter down into the structures of individual villages.

VIDA thereby supports planning and investment decisions, monitors changes and measures impact. It is already used by a number of development finance institutions and governments, by electrification companies (both mini-grid companies and solar home system companies), and by frontier market sales companies - in Sub Saharan Africa and in India. We have repeat, scaled customer contracts.
