An immortal volunteer can test the surgeries in its heart. It has customizable heart geometry and functions for surgeons to rehearse, compare and optimize the surgeries. The VirDoc heart simulator developed by our team has the patient's heart geometry and functions, including dilation, blood pressure, calcification and exercise capacity, etc. And the heart is compatible with most surgeries. Untreatable patients more have more chances worth trying (on it). Most patients will enjoy more optimized therapy, with a shorter surgery, lower fatal rate, less pain, shorter recovery time and longer life. We have built a prototype and predicted two negative surgical results, and we are working harder to make more surgical results predictable.
The simulation platform can also be applied as a training/research tool and a novel therapy assessment platform. The product can create a new international standard in medical device testing which is at a higher standard than ISO 5840. The technology can be applied to simulate lung surgeries and blood vessel surgeries as well. The technique can ultimately become a prosthetic replacement heart.
