Vision for change currently is working with micro-small farmers on a project module that focuses on cluster farming. This program is designed to cluster youth and women within the same locality and are farming the same farm produce into a cluster. The purpose of the cluster is to enable the youth leverage for market and market price together rather than individually. Having such a cluster will allow the women and youth to have access to capital through some of the common practices within our community. Such as the table banking program which is a common trend for both rural and urban youth/ women, they shall also have an opportunity for peer-to-peer support that will allow the youth/women to learn from each other and produce a better yield.
Instead of this group seeing themselves as competitors they shall see themselves as collaborators towards reaching a specific goal. Allowing these individuals to share resources within their disposal towards increasing their yields.

Instead of this group seeing themselves as competitors they shall see themselves as collaborators towards reaching a specific goal. Allowing these individuals to share resources within their disposal towards increasing their yields.
VFC also focus on market creation and access to the market for this group through seeking contract farming for the cluster. As a way of ensuring that they get value for their produce through targeting market individuals that focus on fair trade. This shall reduce the rate at which the smallholders and micro-small farmers have fair prices of their produce and are not price takers.
Despite that as an organization, we focus on training and capacity enhancement of this cluster towards best practice, Participatory Learning and Action (PLA), capacity enhancement, and value chain addition for the surplus produce. So that these clusters can learn as they farm, produce farm products that meet the market standard thus minimizing wastage, and have their capacity enhanced so that they can add value to the surplus yield and hence increasing revenue.
Thus, we work on a system that will focus on identifying smallholders and micro-small farmers within a specific region, focus on training the identified farmers throughout the engagement period on specific valuable topics that are essential towards the success of them transforming their farms into a source of livelihood, support the group to be able to work effectively towards increasing the quality and quantity of their yield, create access to the market through buying their produce though fair prices and sell to the market and clients who focus on fair trade.
