Voltpost is a “charging as a service” company to increase electric vehicle adoption and accelerate decarbonization in cities. The company retrofits lampposts into electric vehicle charging stations managed by a mobile application. This reduces the footprint, timing, and cost of charging station deployment.

The company plans to initially convert New York City Department of Transportation Standard Octagonal and Davit lampposts into the Voltpost charging system. Level 2 charging stations integrated on existing lampposts enable quick installation of non-invasive components.

Voltposts will be constructed with rugged weatherproof materials. The design includes responsive LED lights that indicate charging status, a smart meter to track electricity consumption, Bluetooth connectivity to mobile phones, and a pedestrian friendly J plug charging socket.

The Voltpost mobile application has discovery, booking, charging, billing, and impact features. The mobile application will provide drivers access to power from the grid while the cloud-based management system measures charging events.

Drivers will gain visibility of Voltposts on a map, make reservations in advance, track charging remotely, pay based on electricity consumed, plus gain insights on financial and environmental savings. The charge management system backend dashboard links Voltposts, measures charging events, and provides insights for partners. This system enables stakeholders to set benchmarks and forecast demand to inform future Voltpost deployment.

Voltpost plans to generate revenue from sales, subscription, sponsorship and licensing. Sales will be from flat or percentage based fees for each charging event paid by drivers. Subscription will be from an annual network access fee paid by drivers. Sponsorship from brands will be sold on the Voltpost network. Voltpost licensing is also being explored to scale the platform.

Voltpost generates value for cities, drivers, and brands. Cities can generate new revenue streams, improve city planning with infrastructure data, and accelerate decarbonization by spurring electric vehicle adoption. Drivers gain public electric vehicle charging access on city streets to reduce range anxiety and measure impact. Brands benefit by promoting climate leadership, increasing engagement, and gaining charging insights.

Some of the Voltpost leadership team share experience developing products that are loved by consumers and distributed globally.
